Chuck & ConsumerX

Chuck Palmer is a retail and consumer behavior expert.  He has more than 25 years experience across the worlds of online and offline retail, retail strategy, consumer consulting and digital merchandising. He focuses on the nexus of consumer behavior, technology and creativity.  He is owner and principal strategist at ConsumerX, a retail consultancy.

His career began quite young (sweeping up at 9 in his dad's beer and wine store), he graduated from the Ohio State University with a degree in Industrial Psychology, and soon landed in the buying offices of Crate & Barrel and later Macy's West.

From those venerable beginnings, he went on to hone his retail chops as a strategist and consultant at Retail Design Group, Retail Planning Associates (RPA), FITCH (a WPP company) and as a retail strategy consultant. Clients and project work included Abbot Nutrition, Home Depot, HSBC Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Kraft, Nintendo, Wrangler, Intel, Humana, Johnson & Johnson, Dell, Kmart, Columbia Sportswear, HP, and Staples.

His deep understanding of the customer experience-- including brand engagement, customer journey implications, online behavior, retail space, customer-facing displays, and the path to purchase-- results in robust and engaging consumer experiences.

Chuck has taught as an adjunct instructor at the Columbus College of Art & Design (www.CCAD.edu) where he focused on bringing the core tenants of business and strategy to design students.
